Sin and the Law

This was for me a though passages to work through. Paul is explaining that we are no longer bound to the Law, that we have died to it and are now bound to Christ through the Spirit.

What was interesting is that Paul speaks about the Law and mentions that the law produced sin in him. What he is saying is that the Law, is holy and righteous, and because of the Law we are able to know what is sinful.

I don’t do what I want to do, but do what I don’t want to do

Paul opens up to tell us that what he wants to do, that things that give fruit for the Lord, his human nature is not inclined to do it. And yet the things he doesn’t want to do, because they are sinful, are exactly what his human nature leans towards.

Paul tells us that even though he desires to follow the Law of God, that he is not able to do so in his own.

The Spirit

In the same way that Paul speaks about the sin the dwells in him being what that ultimately carries out sin. We understand that when we live in righteousness, it is not us, but the Spirit of God in us that is producing fruit of life - like Paul, we do not have the ability to do this on our own and must submit to Christ.

Thoughts

do I find that when I want to delight I. The things of the lord that evil is close by?

when I look at the way I still sin, can I see a pattern of what needs to be surrendered to Christ?

Prayer

Lord there is so much of me that still needs you to transform me. Would you open up my eyes to the area in my life that need surrender, to the sinfulness that needs to die in me. God will you help me, through your Spirit to honour you and do what I want to do, serve you, and produce fruit of life.
