No condemnation
This is by far one of the chapters that has enriched my life greatly.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1, ESV)
Paul is speaking g a being clear that there is no longer any type of condemnation for those who are in Christ.
That is a clear condition, for too long that passage has been taken out of context and people quote it believing it is saying that because of Jesus there is no more judgement. And that is simply not the case.
The promise are for those who are IN Jesus!
Because God himself has done it all, as a man he fulfilled the law to put an end to it, and now we follow the Spirit of God.
We now live setting our minds on the things of the Spirit and not of the flesh as we did before.
Paul says it is impossible to set your mind on the things of the flesh and please God.
Paul tells us that the same Spirit that rose Christ from the dead is in us, and gives us life. If you are IN Jesus you have the Spirit in you!
Heirs With Christ
For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. (Romans 8:15–17, ESV)
The Spirit we have received is not to go back to the sin he has pulled us out from, but of adoption into the family of God! We have access to the Father as our own. And we will be heirs with Christ, and must suffer with him.
Longing for Glory
Paul tells us that not only are we longing for the Son of God to be revealed, for his return. When we will be in a redeemed bodies, but that creation itself longs for that day, and groans for that day.
All things work for the good
This reality is striking, it reminds us that regardless of what we see, of what we live, what we are going through - as we are waiting for that day where where Christ will be revealed:
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28, ESV)
His love is everlasting
We go on to read that God, having given up his own son for us will give all things. That there is nothing that will ever separate those who are saved, from the love of God. Not ANYTHING.
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38–39, ESV)
